Montreal Fashion and Design Festival

The Montreal Fashion and Design Festival kicked off yesterday with a day filled with shows, presentations and activities. One of the main streets of downtown Montreal, McGill College Ave., is closed until Saturday, where there are a number of kiosks, from pop-up boutiques and lounge areas, to artistic displays and runways.

I went to the Bodybag by Jude fashion show, followed by the ‘5 bloggers, 5 looks’ presentation where five bloggers put together 5 looks based around a particular concept.

The first day ended with a bang, with a huge presentation of ‘Fantômes’ by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. The pictures will speak for themselves but the show was lively, with bold colors and prints that kept the audience captivated with the beat of the music – a really amazing artistic performance! What captivated me was the attention to detail: elaborate head pieces, gloves or hands painted as skeletons, and the most obvious, the black and white make-up.
